Lest We Forget - those who have served and those who have died

Australia Day 2026 Bowls & BBQ: 26 January was a great day for social bowling, with over 70 expert and would-be bowlers lining up to enjoy a morning of lawn bowls at the RSL Club. Many of the more experienced bowlers coached those who had not played before. The weather was good, not too hot or too sunny. The organising RSL sub-Clubs are congratulated for organising such a wonderful day, with morning tea and sausage sizzle BBQ lunch. Looking forward to next year!

Sub-Branch Annual General Meeting at the sub-Branch Hall: The AGM is scheduled for Sunday 1st March 2026 at the Hall. The AGM will commence at 10:00am, with a short commemoration service at the Remembrance Memorial. Medals to be worn. The AGM will be followed by the monthly General Meeting. Refreshments to follow. Look forward to seeing everyone there who can make it.

2026 sub-Branch Membership Renewals: Thank you to all sub-Branch Members who have renewed. Your support of the sub-Branch in commemoration and support to local veterans and their families is much appreciated. Please ensure that your sub-Branch subscription is renewed before the AGM on 1st March 2026.

Central Southern Districts Council: the Annual General Meeting of the CSDC is scheduled for the morning of Sunday 8th March 2026 at Shoalhaven Heads Bowling & Recreation Club. The President and Senior Vice President will attend this meeting as the sub-Branch delegate and alternate.

RSLNSW Listening Tour: As part of RSL NSW Strategic Planning a workshop on the afternoon of 8th March 2026 at Shoalhaven Heads Bowling Club. This will follow the CSDC Meeting and is scheduled to commence at 13:00 and conclude at 15:00. All members welcome to attend. Register at https://rslnsw.org.au/listening-tour/

Sub-Branch Initiatives

Sub-Branch Memorial Internal Painting & Floor Project: all our Hall users will return in 2026 to a newly painted interior of the sub-Branch Hall. A fitting tribute to the Hall turning 50 years old in 2025, a new roof and a refreshed interior. Further grants to be sought to refurbish the bathrooms and paint the exterior of the Hall.

Fundraising: The sub-Branch Auxiliary Fundraising Program is out for 2026. The Auxiliary continues its initiatives this year to help us in achieving our Charitable Purpose. Some new initiatives are to be undertaken this year, namely the Family Military History Days and Legacy Week morning tea. Please contact the Secretary if you can assist with our fundraising efforts and would like to be added to the rosters.

ANZAC Day Saturday 25th April 2026: the next sub-Branch commemoration service on the calendar is ANZAC Day and it is likely to have a large public attendance at the ceremonies. We are planning for a full schedule of commemoration activities. If there are any suggestions, please talk to MC Stan Berriman or President George Douglas. RSL NSW is also consulting on a Public Holiday to recognise ANZAC Day, so have your say on the RSL feedback portal.

Next Meetings: Management Committee Meeting on Thursday 26 February 2026, and AGM and next Monthly General Meeting at 10:00am on Sunday 1st March 2026.
